In the midst of a very severe trial
"In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity... they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord's people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us".
(2 Corinthians 8:2, 4-5--NIV)
Consider this:
So often those of us who...
Don't think about how we'll get our next meal...
Don't often consider conserving water...
Rarely grow worried regarding whether or not we'll have clothes to cover us come winter...
FORGET.
Yes, we fail to ask others to join us in the high and holy privilege of partnership.
Because it is that.
The Bible even tells us so.
Paul wrote about this, exhorting believers to see it as such.
He said in his letter that partnering with people, even those half a world away--whether carrying them in prayer or sending money to help with basic needs--is just that.
A privilege.
Those of us here in western North Carolina who've joined together to support Yahweh Faith Foundation can also offer these fine men, women and children this same privilege, especially in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
Though they might not be able to support emergency efforts financially, they can certainly join together to pray.
Even more, I imagine it would be their joy...
Yes, to carry us to Jesus!
These dear brothers and sisters for whom we've prayed and offered support know even better than us the reality of extreme poverty and severe trials.
After all, they've experienced it first-hand--
Famine.
Drought.
Starvation.
Sickness.
But we know that prayers, especially those offered from an empathetic heart, hold great power.
Furthermore, we believe praying--yes, interceding on behalf of our family in Christ--brings overflowing joy.
So, I ask you dear Ugandan friends, those whom we love who are part of Yahweh Faith Foundation--whether its leaders, pastors, teacher, students, or parents...
Won't you pray for us here in the Southeast of America--especially in the hardest hit areas like western North Carolina where so many of your fellow Christ-followers live?
And won't you please pray for our country's upcoming presidential election--that God would be glorified in the decisions made on November 5th and that a blanket of protection would cover the electoral system, keeping the enemy far away?
Though we come to you believing, we know your tender, generous hearts, precious friends, will far exceed our expectations.
We pray the heavens will pour down blessing upon blessing, namely in the saving of many lives.
And may you, our dear YFF friends, be blessed abundantly in return.
We love you and we are grateful to not only serve you through our prayers and support but to receive your supportive, powerful prayers as well...
In Jesus's name!
