Yahweh Faith Foundation - Overview
Our Vision
Through assistance from sponsors and generous donors, Yahweh Faith Foundation hopes to offer ongoing assistance to reach the most vulnerable, helping them reach their full potential physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Mostly, it’s YFF’s desire that it demonstrates, leading by example, its motto—to live by faith, that a watching world may come to know the love of our gracious savior, Jesus Christ.
Our Mission
Yahweh Faith Foundation was established as a non-profit 501-C3 for Uganda, Africa. It exists for the purpose of providing for the vulnerable people living there, namely orphans and widows. The specific types of provision include education, nutrition and medical support, as well as spiritual and mental health programs, not to mention programs for family livelihood improvement.
Our Core Values
- Christ-Centered
- Efficiency
- Transparency and Accountability
Main Objectives
The goal of the project is to establish a nursery and primary school aimed to support children affected by HIV/AIDs and Sickle Cell Disease in Burahya by the name of Yahweh Faith Foundation Nursery and Primary School.
- Education
As of April, 150 children are enrolled in Yahweh Faith Foundation Nursery School, covering ages 3 through 12. While most schools require tuition, this one is free.
Contributions have already paid for the construction of three class rooms, a latrine and installation of a rain harvesting tank, along with 6 teachers (1 supervisor and 5 assistants). The curriculum covers vocabulary and speech, social development, health habits, handwriting, reading, math and numeracy. Classes have been ongoing from February until April.
With a scheduled break for the month of May, school will resume in June. But new regulations are requiring another construction phase. The little ones need a place to nap which requires a 20ft x 20ft covered slab. All aspects of the education process are addressed by Yahweh Faith: students, teachers, supplies, buildings and food.
- Nutrition and Medical Care
Many of the children have significant gaps in their daily nutrition. Yahweh Faith Foundation addresses this by providing breakfast with a snack and lunch. The food provided includes Posho, beans, rice, banana, vegetables, milk, African tea, porridge, yellow banana, bread, chapati and mandazi. This food provides a variety of nutrients including carbohydrates, proteins, Vitamins A, B6, B12, dietary fiber and natural sugars needed for children to grow
healthy.
Medication is a separate issue. Many of the children carry AIDS and require special medicine. In addition, malaria is an ongoing threat that must be addressed. These serious issues, along with the day to day health issues of children are a part of what YFF provides. But what is Yahweh Faith without a spiritual component?
The Spiritual and Mental Health of the children and their families is at the heart of YFF. All are welcomed by Elijah Mugisa pastor of Nyakaseke United Pentecostal Church and YFF’s primary boots on the ground representative and vision director.
- Spiritual and Mental Health Program
Yahweh Faith Foundation extends Spiritual Counseling and Guidance to people to keep their faith in the Lord despite the hardship they go through. Morning devotions are conducted at school to encourage children to grow well spiritually.
YFF also gives psychosocial education by conducting sessions to individuals and communities about mental health, stress management, coping and resilience skills.
- Family Livelihood Improvement
Yahweh Faith Foundation supports households to fight hunger by giving seeds to plants whereby they keep some harvest for food and sell the rest to buy soap, salt and other basic needs at home.
Under the livelihood program, YFF also organizes people in community groups and teaches them about financial literacy, local saving and revolving funds to establish households that are self-sustaining and live out of poverty.
