Judith Musiimenta's Touching Story
When Yahweh Faith Foundation Nursery School chose to locate a mere 500 meters
from her home, Judith’s dream of going to school moved closer to reality. Though a 10-
year-old should be in Primary 4, Judith is in Top of Class, studying with children who
are four years younger.
According to her grandmother, Judith’s delay in going to school was due to poverty,
linked, in part, to her father’s death from HIV/AIDS. Sadly, she lost her father when she
was only 7 months old. As a result, she has no memory of him at all.
Judith remained with her mother, who was also quite sickly due to HIV/AIDS. Realizing
that Judith might soon be parentless, her grandmother took over her care at age 2.
Fortunately, a hospital visit revealed the news that Judith was not HIV positive.
The grandmother had no thought of Judith going to school; there was simply no
money. The fact that Yahweh Faith Nursery School was so near made little difference,
until Judith was selected for a scholarship by YFF staff as they canvassed the
community guided by local leaders.
A major purpose of the school is to give needy children access to education through
funding supplied by donors in the US. Judith became one of the first to be blessed by
this endeavor.
While Judith can now read and write her name, and more, her educational future
remains a question. As she leaves nursery school behind the other levels, primary,
secondary, tertiary or even University, remain beyond her family’s means. Her prayers
are that a sponsor will help her reach those levels, so that she can also be an educated
woman able to favorably compete with others for jobs.
All care takers, including Judith’s grandmother, are happy and thankful to Yahweh Faith
Foundation and its donors for the help being extended to their children.
“We had no hope that our children would ever go to school, even to learn how to read
and write their names, but because of Yahweh Faith Foundation they are able,” one
parent said. “May God continue to bless our America friends abundantly.”
By visiting students’ homes, YFF staff discovered that nutrition, sleeping conditions and
hygiene are quite appalling.
Judith’s mother battles kidney and liver disease, as well as TB, due to the effects of
HIV. At this point, she is barely able to walk on her own. She says she has handed her
daughter into the hands of God and well-wishers.
“I am just waiting for death, because I am so weak. As for my daughter, God will help
her,” she cried.
