Yahweh Faith Foundation overwhelmed by the number of needy children
“If there was enough support, the foundation would be having over 1000
needy children to help”. This is because of the increasing number of orphans
as a result of HIV/Aids which hit Uganda in the early 1980’s and other
epidemics.
The epidemic has since then killed so many people leaving behind a trace of
many children headed families in Kabarole District and in the whole country.
Cases of minors taking care of their fellows are very common in Kabarole
District.
A case in point is Rayan Nahurra 18 years, who takes of his three siblings,
Peace Ainembabazi 7 years, Joseph Mwesige, 5 years and Englelight Karungi
8 years.
Their father Joseph Tungo 56 years and their mother Grace Kabasinguzi 40
years died when the children were still very young and since the death of
their parents, they had been under the care of their uncle Kamulindwa
Geoffrey. When Geoffrey got his own responsibilities, he left the kids to
Rayan who is now taking care of his siblings using little he gets from sale of
charcoal and casual works.
He goes around the village digging people gardens so that he can raise
money to look after his siblings.
But Luckily, Joseph’s brother (the caretaker) came to the church for prayers
where he got the information about Yahweh faith foundation which was
extending help to needy children.
Thereafter, Rayan brother to Joseph visited Yahweh Faith Foundation Office
and contacted us for help, we later went to their home for assessment and
we found out that the situation was alarming.
After assessment, I and my team with recommendation from the local
council one leader decided to recruit Joseph Mwesige their youngest brother
at Yahweh Faith Foundation Nursery School.
The children are living at Kanyateete Village, Harugongo Sub County,
Burahya County in Kabarole District.
The time Joseph was recruited at the school, he was looking miserably,
emaciated and was falling sick from time to time because of malaria, cough
and flue.
He was also miserable because of missing the care of his parents. Since he
joined Yahweh Faith Foundation School, he found good care in terms of good
nutrition, interaction with his peers and exposure to good learning
environment, Joseph is now looking healthier and promising.
Joseph always moves with a boda boda or sometimes walks for 3 kms to
school when they don’t have money which remains a challenge in his life.
If Joseph continues getting support from the organization, his dream will
come true. Joseph feels that if he continues being supported by well-wishers
his dream is to be an engineer. So, he is appealing to make his dream be
fulfilled.
Joseph’s family is thankful to Yahweh Faith Foundation and donors for the
funds provided to take care of the child and many others who are like him.
